FYI regarding Ancestry
« on: August 06, 2007, 03:37:06 AM »
They have added another database. Although I don't think it will help too many who are doing Irish research considering who is listed in this country it is called Index to Irish Marriages 1771 -1812. They just don't look like the typical Irish immigrant family.

A while back I was asked to take a survey for Ancestry ( I have had a membership for a couple of years) and was asked what I thought they lacked.

First of all their search methods need a major revamp -too often it is a matter of too much information to shift through-most of it very irrelevant to what search boundaries are selected.

Next I suggested trying to get more European based, especially Irish, databases. I do notice they have added an Italian one and German as well as the new Irish one. Who knows what the future may hold for that site.
