Laurie, go to the genealogy discussion boards on this site and post a new topic and call it Hallihans in Worcester.  Some of the people who help do research for worcester irissh may not see this posting.  Because it will have its own heading:Hallihan, all postings to it might be more relevant.  You do that and in the meantime I'll see what I have.  Be certain to put in a relative year so we'll know how to approach things.

Hi,

I hope your database can help me.

I need some help in locating James ELLIS, a tea merchant (business at 545 Main in 1885), in Worcester between 1887 and 1895. He died in one of  these years. He was born ca 1835.

As well, I'd like to find out when Jame's wife died. She was Mary Ann or Marion (b. ca 1840).  Their children were Charles S. (b 1864) , Frank H. (B. 1869), Edith M. (b. 1867), and Marion C. (b 1884).   I have Mary in the 1910 census age 70 and daughter Marion age 26 at 24 Salem.

Thank you for any help.

Sorry, yes, both James ELLIS and his wife Mary A (or Marion) ELLIS were Irish.

I've amassed a database of irish (hundreds of names) who lived in worcester and where thy're from in Ireland.  Call me crazy, but it's an interesting project.  I'm interested in helping people find their roots with this material and also writing to and meeting fellow Irish researchers.  Who knows...someday I just may learn where my own iish roots were from!

Hi Merski, I'm new in this forum as of today.  I wondered if you had information about my Irish ancestors who settled in Worcester.  Their surnames are: FITZPATRICK (first settled in New York), GALLAGHER, McDERMOTT, HUGHES.

Thanks.
Margie

Margie we now have a board at worcestertalk marked "worcester irish genealogy/history".  It would be best if you posted a topic under each surname and give us a little info and we'll all try to help.
