Lost Great Grandmother

Does anyone know the maiden name of my great grandmother?  Her first name and middle initial is Jane C. and she was born in Nova Scotia in 1832 and died in Worcester in 1901.  She married Benjamin Whitney in the 1800s and lived in Worcester.  Sometime Between the 1870 and1880 census she became Jane C Adams.  I would also like to find out what happened to Benjamin Whitney and who his parents were.

I found a marriage record on familysearch.org for a Jane C. Marsh Whitney, daughter of John Marsh and Ann ?, born in Nova Scotia about 1838, and William Adams, son of James Adams and Jeanette ?, born in New York about 1837.  They were married in Worcester 04 Oct 1877.
