Tivnan Field
« on: January 16, 2010, 02:37:28 AM »
I noticed there was a Tivnan Field in Worcester that I'd never heard of. I went to grade school in Millbury (Dorothy Manor) with  Barbara Tivnan, and I was wondering if there was a relation in reference to that field.   This was in the late 40's early 50's. I'm just curious. Where I did live in Millbury has sure changed. But then again, nothing stays the same!

'Til later,
Starr

Tivnan Field is named after John Tivnan, a Worcester native.  He was a star baseball player (pitcher, I think) when he was a student at Holy Cross many years ago.  He must be in his 70's now.  He was a teacher in the Worc. Public School system for many years.  He was my 5th grade teacher at Adams Square School...always has been my favorite teacher.

John Tivnan was my math teacher at Harrington Way Junior High School in The early 70's.  I had heard he had a contract with the Detroit Tigers.
Still remember him well and was one of my favorite classes to attend.
