The New England Chapter of the Associate of Professional Genealogists presents "The Dreaded Research Report"

I copied and pasted this, if it doesn't post correctly, the information is on the WPL calendar, Thursday, September 17, 2009

Many people enjoy collecting family data and even putting it into lineage-linked software programs, but few relish writing their findings in a narrative form in order to share them. This lecture will try to take the pain out of that process by demonstrating that writing is an integral part of research, is a great way to involve family by sharing our history, and drives future research questions. Appropriate compilation standards and report types as mentioned in The BCG Genealogical Standards Manual will be illustrated. This lecture is part of the BCG Skillbuilding track at the Federation of Genealogical Society conference in Little Rock, Arkansas on 4 September 2009.

Elissa Scalise Powell, CG, a western Pennsylvania researcher and former APG director, is a Trustee for the Board for Certification of Genealogists; the instructor for the “Foundations” module in Boston University’s Certificate in Genealogical Research program; coordinator for the Professional Genealogy Course at the Samford University’s Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research and co-coordinator of Salt Lake Institute’s Accreditation/Certification Preparation course. She is a regional and national speaker on methodology, Pennsylvania records, professional development, and society management. Elissa got her start in genealogy while living in Shrewsbury, MA over 20 years ago.
