Kane family
« on: February 11, 2008, 02:58:12 AM »
It was great seeing you yesterday BVirish,  when I got home I looked up George J. Kane's WWI draft registration and though it was hardly readable, I saw that it said he was married with one child in 1917.  Maybe he didn't die in the war but just moved away.  Could you decipher his wife's name.  Perhaps the 1920 and 1930 censuses have him somewhere.  Let me know....

I have a George Joseph Kane in my family tree.

He is related to the Kane/Beaulac/Bolack side of the family and is located in New Bedford. Don't know if this is the George Kane you are interested.

Merski,

Thank you. I could not read it either. Even after I zoomed in.

I did notice that there was a hand written note in the upper right corner that said "No Order".
I am not sure if that is an indicator that he was not called up.

You are probably correct. He might have just moved away. Most likely out of state.
I did not find him in the 1910 or 1920 census or the St. John's cemetery listing.

For the record, his middle name does appear to be Joseph. He was born in Worcester to George B. Kane & Mary Jane (Cragen) Kane.

Thanks Again...

BVIrish

What about looking for him anywhere in the 1920 census based on his full name and birth year, also you know he was born in Mass.  I may even try that for you if you don't have ancestry.  You can also check for a return of a death at worcester city Hall.  If he had his own family, chances are he would buy a burial plot for his family, maybe even not in St. John's.

ooooh I forgot also you could try to find his marriage before 1917 in worcester to fin his wife's name, which might help you with the census records.
