Am starting rehearsals for "Painting Churches" by Tina Howe which makes numerous references to Cotuit...have been unable to find any encyclopedic references with a pronunciation guide. Did find several "joke" sites which said that the way you could tell if you were from Massachusetts was if you knew how to pronounce, among others, Cotuit. Can someone help? Just because we're in Muskogee, Oklahoma, doesn't mean we don't want to get it right!! I'm guessing 'kah-too-it. By the way, despite the song, lots of people can't pronounce Muskogee---it's Mus-ko-gee (hard "g"). Thanks for your help!

Cotuit is pronounced Ka-2-it
There is another town similar to this Cochituate which is what the other reply was referring to (I believe)
