Wow! I grew up on the Lake and remember  those hangouts well. My folks were totally freaked over the Comic Strip .I remember another place about the same time -- on Rt. 9 (rt. hand side, in  a hollow,  heading towards Boston)  but I  cant recall the name.It wasn't Mickey Greens Spent time there befiore I was old enough also. Am coming to Worcester in another week to see what's left.

It wasnt the Barn 9but i remember that place too. Not that far East. I think it was mainly a bar--i just looked older and got in.  I havent thought about these places in years. I went to Sacred Heart when it still existed and spent lots of time in both the Shrewsbury St. area  and Grafton hill.

Ahhh..the stone wall. My family went to Sacred Heart and I remember it too. I think it is still there. A medical building is now being built on the site of St. Anne's Church and Sacred Heart Academy. Sacred Ground!

I had already moved off to NH when they tore the Sacred Heart bldg. down but one of my brothers drove by and grabbed a few of the bricks. i painted them and passed them out to some of my classmates as door stops. i still have mine here in in CA.Took a ride up Shrewsbury St. while in Worc. this week. Sure has changed!

Hi Suz,

Do you remember the liitle candy store that was directly across the street(on Gage Street) from both SH and Gage Street.  It was like a step down store and had bunches 0of penny candies.  Do you remember Jiimmy's on East Central Street?

I think it was Simeons.I drove out Rt 9 to Northboro a few weeks ago. sure has changed. even the "old" Spags ios gone.  Nostalgia was definitely better than the reality. I dont remember Worcester being so dirty.

Could it have been The Moors ? Remember going there around `63 or `64, many local bands played there.
