Looking for any info on this family- I believe they were both born in County Mayo Ireland. Winifred might be from Louisburgh .. they were married in Worcester in 1847 and lived in Clinton .. where he died @1862 and she in 1905. I believe she is my Great-Great Grandfather Patrick Sweeney's baby sister . Their parents were John & Mary (Heffern) Sweeney .

Way back when I saw Bob Dylan's "Rolling Thunder Revue" at the auditorium. During the show, Joan Baez spoke before one of her numbers and she pronounced the name as WORE-SES-TER. The uproar from the crowd was loud and immediate. Joan covered her face with her hands and backed away from the mic. Roger McGuinn (of The Byrds fame) put his arm around her and brought her back to the mic. He said something like... "Joanie's really a nice girl... don't give her a hard time just because she doesn't know how to pronounce WUSTA". At that, the crowd once again roared... this time its approval.

I was a member of the Worcester Art Museum in the 70's when I lived in Worcester. For those of you who aren't aware, this museum has an international reputation. In fact, it's widely considered one of the best general art museums of it's size in the world. If you've never gone you don't know what you're missing.

The collection of 17th century Dutch and Flemish art is simply superb. It also houses the best collection of Japanese woodblock prints in the western hemisphere thanks mostly to the John Chandler Bancroft collection.

The "chapel" mentioned earlier is actually a "chapter house" and was a room where the monks would gather each morning to discuss what would be going on that day at the monastery. It came from France, not England.

I saw him many, many times. At first we called him "the whistler". He walked slowly and whistled beautifully. Years later I'd see him walking quickly and he'd no longer be whistling. This is when I'd see him with the sign attached to his back. I worked at Mercury Wire on Rt-9 in Spencer, just over the Leicester line. In summer we'd eat lunch on the loading dock with the shipping door open and we'd see him walk by. We'd yell "WALTER!!" and he would always acknowledge us.

I remember F&M Coins which was on Chandler St a few blocks up from Main. It was run by Chuck Foley and Wally Moroski.

I remember Friendly's, Shaky Jakes where I bought most of my clothes, the House of India for incense and stuff, The Midheaven for Mexican food which was excellent (replaced by the Acapulco which absolutely sucked), the Garden of Delight which was another wonderful restaurant run by "Princess" and served by "Tinker" who had little bells all over hisblack  clothing which he never seemed to change) and it was the place to go to score reefer. Oh how I loved the 60's and 70's.
