Post by: negffe on May 14, 2007, 03:38:39 PM
Next year marks the 120th anniversary of it's writing in Worcester by Ernest Thayer...

he wrote it at the family homestead at 67 chatham....is the house still there?

also is the Worcester theater still standing...he saw it performed there by Dewolff Hopper who made the poem famous?

thanks

My aunt was a friend of Ernest Thayer. I have a copy of the original poem written in the SFO newspaper.

Check google earth street view, for a look at Worcester homes most streets. The Worcester theatre is long gone but now part of a modern theatre.
