Title: Worcester Sullivans
Post by: merski on April 01, 2011, 06:03:15 AM
Helping a cousin with her Worcester Sullivans.  Her Grandmother Mary Catherine was born in 1889 in Worcester to John J. & Mary E. (Conlan) Sullivan.  John's parents were Jeremiah & Johanna.  John may have been born in Ireland c. 1863 and emigrated as a child.  Think that his father naturalized c. 1873 when he was a kid so he's saying he's naturalized.  There is a Jeremiah & Johanna Sullivan in the 1880 Worcester census with a John about the right age.  Others in the household are Denis & Patrick.  John worked first as a wire drawer and in later life as a fireman for the city of Worcester.  Unknown death date but he was alive in 1930 census.   Is there any history of the Worcester Fire Dept.??  Does this ring a bell with anyone??  Mary Catherine Sullivan married Frank Comer in 1910.

In this family there was also a Francis X. Sullivan who had a son Francis X. who was a priest.  Francis Sr. worked at holy cross college for many years.  His daughter Helen married William F. Barry of worcester.
