I left n 1976, I have not been back since a driveby in 2000. Even then it was so changed. Everything from my childhood is gone. (Both houses, both grammar schools.) I really loved Worcester and all my memories of the place. Piedmont St at Pleasant, Merrick St, Seaver St School, Winslow St School. West Side Pharmacy with a soda fountain! and a succession of adorable Catholic HS boys who worked there. Aubuchons (sp?) Hardware Store and the two men Charles and Robert who owned or ran it and a really cute boy with blonde hair named Dickie who worked there. Blossom Spa, Walts Spa (or Luncheonette?) Wonder Market. A market that sold only fish on the corner of Pleasant and Fruit St. The old red brick library on Elm St before they built the new one on Salem St. Austin Liquors. Climbing Newton Hill before they built DMHS and picking wild raspberries. Elm Park. Iandoli's (sp market at Highland and Park Ave) Bobby Johnson, Kemps, The fire house on Pleasant St at Winslow ( and handsome firemen! ) across from West Side Pizza where I worked for a short time as a teenager. A lovely florist shop on Pleasant near Sever, also in that same block a "dimestore" that sold everything (toys, fabric, yarn, clothing etc.) Walking everywhere. Robin, Pat, Angelo, Laurel, Butchie, Lorrainne, Alice, Arthur, Chester.
My only hope is that I live long enough until they invent time travel. I do not want to mess with my life; I only wish to walk beside myself and experience it again.
